The Queen’s University of Belfast is a member of the Russell group – a group of 24 leading UK research intensive universities, and was ranked 8th in terms of research intensity in the last UK REF, 2014. Queen’s participates in 66 Horizon 2020 projects to date, representing €48 million research income.

In 2017 the School of Arts, English and Languages was awarded various H2020/Marie Curie grants, including the 3.8 million euro “Supporting Pioneer doctoral Researchers through Knowledge partnerships”. The School hosts the ‘International Crime Fiction research group’ directed by Dr Dominique Jeannerod. Since 2013 the ICFRG has organised dozens of research, teaching and dissemination events on European crime narratives in fiction, film and television, collaborating with local, national and international partners both within and outside academia. QUB serves as leader of WP5.

Stefano Baschiera

Stefano Baschiera

Dr. Stefano Baschiera is Senior Lecturer in Film Studies. His research focuses on popular cinema, addressing issues of transitional coproduction, distribution and consumption. He was the PI of the AHRCfunded project “World Cinema On-Demand. Film Distribution and Education in the Streaming Media Era” and he’s currently Co-I of the AHRC-funded project “Producers and Production Practices in the History of Italian Cinema, 1945-1975”.

Dominique Jeannerod

Dr. Dominique Jeannerod is Lecturer in French Studies. His research focuses on international crime fiction and cinema. He was the PI of the AHRC-funded project “Visualising European Crime Fiction: New Digital Tools and Approaches to the Study of Transnational Popular Culture” and he’s currently Co-I in the AHRC-funded project “Ian Rankin StoryTrek: New Digital Storytelling and Mapping Technologies for Crime Fiction Readers on Location”.

Paul Ell

Paul Ell

Dr. Paul Ell is Senior Research Fellow and Director of the Centre for Data Digitisation and Analysis at QUB. His research in Social Geography and Digital Humanities has been funded by more than 80 grants from national and international funding bodies.

Andrew Pepper

Dr. Andrew Pepper is Senior Lecturer in American Literature. His research focuses on American and Europe crime fiction. He was a Co-Investigator in the project “Visualising European Crime Fiction” and he’s currently the PI of the project “Ian Rankin StoryTrek”.

Markus Schleich

Markus Schleich

Dr. Markus Schleich is a research fellow at the School of Arts, English, and Languages. His research focuses on Europeanness in Film and Television series on the level of production, distribution, and promotion. 
David Hardy

David Hardy

David Hardy is Senior IT Technical Officer at the Centre for Data Digitisation and Analysis. In the past few years he has collaborated with Dr. Paul Ell on several collaborative, interdisciplinary and international projects aimed at mapping data for research in the Digital Humanities and Social Sciences.
