DETECting the new era of TV crime dramas
The long-lasting, and constantly growing, relevance of television crime narratives will be at the center of the panel organized by the DETECt research team and included in the “industry agora” section of FeST – Il festival delle serie tv, in Milan (Saturday, September 21, 6.00pm, Triennale Milano). In the discussion, some important industry guests and DETECt researchers will explore the reasons of such a durable Golden age of Italian, European and global crime dramas, so to better understand the role of this genre in writing, production, acquisition, and broadcasting.

DETECt research team organizes the Panel “The New Era of TV Crime dramas”.
Barbara Petronio, showrunner of Romanzo criminale. La serie (Sky Italia) and Suburra. La serie (Netflix), screenwriter, story editor and editorial consultant, will talk about the Italian way to premium crime drama, the evolutions and future prospects of the genre. Luca Bersaglia, executive programming director of entertainment channels at Fox Networks Group, will highlight the role of Italian, European and foreign productions in branding and positioning the devoted channel Fox Crime. Loredana Di Domenico, senior programming and content acquisition director at Discovery Communications Italia, will explore the acquisition strategies and logics behind the circulation of crime TV narratives in Italy, in fiction and factual entertainment, with peculiar attention to channels as Nove and Giallo. Valentina Re, professor at Link Campus University, will present the DETECt project and discuss some of its first findings with these expert professionals. The panel will be chaired by Luca Barra, professor at Università di Bologna and part of the DETECt team.
